Quilcene , WA , United States

Quilcene, Pearl of the Peninsula, is a tiny town with a big heart and a long history. Lake Leland is a small rural lake, on the edge of the Olympic National Forest, surrounded by trees and quiet homes. 5 mph speed limit on the lake means no noisy water toys, and a peaceful refuge for paddlers, swimmers, and anglers. Lake Leland offers year-round fishing for rainbow trout, large mouth bass, perch, crappie and bluegill. (State license required. A boat ramp is located at the county park. Due to steepness of our driveway, we don't recommend bringing towed boats down it.) Steamer clams and oysters are easy to collect near Linger-longer Road in Quilcene (about seven miles from Lake Leland). Hurricane Ridge is only an hour and a half away. It offers a raven's-eye view of the park, high-elevation hikes, and winter fun from sledding to cross-country skiing to snowshoeing. Nearby Quilcene Ranger Station provides maps and updates on hiking conditions for some of the most spectacular trails in the world.

We had a great time

Date of Stay:

For over 20 years now my husband and our friend Keith have booked a weeklong fly fishing trip in late summer. Usually we have been disappointed in the fishing, or the fishing is good, but we were disappointed in the accommodations. At Lake Leland we were not disappointed at all! (Except i wish i could have landed more rainbow.) We had a great time and fished every day, (either from the dock, rowboat or the canoe). It was so quiet - most times we were the only ones on the lake. While fly fishing I caught many blue gill and some bass on dry flies too! Leland Lake house is a very cool rustic lake home with nice artwork and comfortable beds. It has everything you need for cooking, which we did everyday. (But if you want a change of place the 101 Brewery is a nice place to eat.) The hot tub was so relaxing in the evening after a day on the lake. I loved reading upstairs on the sofa that overlooks the view. Because I didn't want to leave the cabin we only ventured out once for lunch at the 101 Brewery. For those who like to work out (as i do) the elliptical is a very nice high end one! It was also great working with Lisa! She very quickly responded to any questions I had when booking and even checked on us while we were there. We hope to return, maybe this time in mid-May.

Wonderful get away spot

Wonderful get away spot. Nice and quiet and relaxing!!

We had the BEST time

Date of Stay:

We had the BEST time. Great place for a relaxing summer getaway.

A great place for our family vacation

Date of Stay:

The Leland Lake house was a great place for our family vacation. The house is stocked with everything you could need. Lots of things to do ie. games, badminton, bag toss, etc. We had lots of fun kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding. The house was very clean, had lots of towels and a washer/dryer. I would definitely stay there again.

A great choice for our summer gathering

Date of Stay:

We were a group of 9 with a dog. We never felt crowded. The house is deceptively large and very comfortable. The kitchen is amazing — well laid out for multiple cooks all cooking at the same time, and better equipped than any rental I have ever had. All equipment worked flawlessly. The lake is beautiful and we made use of the kayaks and life jackets provided. The atmosphere was private and quiet. We enjoyed evenings in the hot tub or down by the fire pit. A 30 minute drive brought us to Port Townsend with everything we might need. And hiking trails were a drivable distance. Communication with the hosts was nearly instantaneous. For a fun outing, check out the Olympic Game Farm - fun for all ages. We all agreed, the Leland Lake House was a great choice for our summer gathering.

Get away from the big city

Date of Stay:

The house is fully stocked (and labeled so you know where everything goes). Having the canoes and kayaks was a big bonus. The fire pits and hot tub were also great. There isn’t a ton to do in the immediate area but a 20-30 min drive brings you to a bunch of fun places.

“Another good one, Dad!”

Date of Stay:

Great place. Very clean. Little touches like extra portable USB ports for chargers. My adult kids loved the canoe and kayaks for quick jaunts out on the lake. Lots to do in the area too. We did a day trip to Hoh Rain Forest and another trip to Victoria. The short drive to Hurricane Ridge was amazing and shouldn’t be skipped. Had some great food at restaurants in the area too. My adult kids said it best when, as we were departing, said, “Another good one, Dad!” We’ll definitely stay here again if we’re back in the area!

photos do not do it justice

Date of Stay:

The kind of place where photos do not do it justice. So beautiful and serene. That secluded sense where you feel you have the whole lake to yourself. In addition to the lovely lake, you are just on the outskirts of Olympic National Park. An ideal jumping off point for a visit to one of our nations treasures. I highly recommend the Leland Lake House.

the epitome of R&R

Date of Stay:

Our time at Leland Lake House was the epitome of R&R. The recreational activities were great and we had so much fun boating, swimming, playing badminton and doing puzzles. We also relaxed in comfort and enjoyed the peaceful setting, beautiful gardens and a much appreciated break from our day to day busy-ness. We are so glad to have found Leland Lake House and know this will be the first visit of many.

Highly recommend

Date of Stay:

Beautiful I highly recommend this vacation house.

I can't say enough good things about this stunning lake house.

Date of Stay:

I can't say enough good things about this stunning lake house. We stayed for two nights with a group of 8 girls and couldn't believe how beautiful the property and home were. From an Airbnb checklist perspective, the check-in process was seamless, hosts were extremely responsive, and there were more amenities than I could dream of in my own home. The house is, as pictured, on a serene lake with its own dock, boats for your using, and complete with inviting outdoor space including patio furniture, a hot tub, fire pit, and adorable solar powered twinkle lights hanging in mason jars from the trees. The kitchen is incredibly stocked and everything is labeled for easy return to its home. Filtered water is available for your using and although we brought our own fire wood, they even had some waiting for us. I highly recommend this for a family vacation or girlfriend getaway!!

An absolute magical weekend away!

Date of Stay:

This property exceeded our expectations! I have stayed at at least a dozen VRBO's and this one is by far my favorite. Such a serene setting and everything we could have wanted and wished for was all included. The owners have paid attention to every detail at welcoming guests. From the super comfy beds to welcoming our dog! Sport equipment, water fun toys, fire pit, gated property, hot tub, I could go on and on! We hope to establish a tradition here. Book this place; you will be thrilled!

Book it! You won’t regret it!

Date of Stay:

This house provides everything and more needed to have a great getaway. My family had the most wonderful time and we were able to relax and bond just like we needed. Even my 12 year old didn’t complain about not having his Xbox! It made for a picture perfect staycation!

Great private cottage by the lake. Completely fenced in for your dog. Kitchen fully stocked with everything you would need, utensils & pots. We had a fire on the fire pot down by the lake every night. The wood was supplied. Lisa/Miranda were great.

Right on the water and with all the amenities and then some of home

Date of Stay:

House is beautiful! Right on the water and with all the amenities and then some of home. Beautifully decorated, hot tub, and bath robes for guests. Our group had some troubles due to snow navigating the steep drive way. The host was extremely responsive and helpful during our times of need. Despite the unexpected weather changing our travel plans, I would stay at the Lake House again and can't wait to come back and see it in warmer weather!

Great view and serene!

Date of Stay:

Such a nice place for a getaway! Quick responses from the host made the experience enjoyable. Great view and serene!

Great place with great access to a great lake

Date of Stay:

Great place with great access to a great lake. Super well stocked kitchen.

Perfect for our friends getaway

Date of Stay:

This house was perfect for our friends getaway (3 couples). Fantastic location right on the lake, and cozy space inside with every amenity you need to cook, make coffee or tea, etc. We loved taking the rowboat & kayak out, standing around the outdoor firepit, and doing jigsaw puzzles inside next to the fireplace. Would definitely recommend this place & I'm guessing I'll be staying here again in the future!

Perfect lakefront retreat

Date of Stay:

Great home with beautiful lakefront views and access. House was well equipped for our family (pets included) with many thoughtful details (hot tub, fire pit, etc.) that we appreciated throughout our stay. Kitchen was amazing with all the tools, appliances, and more that we needed for our Thanksgiving meal. Hosts were quick to respond to questions and were very helpful and accommodating. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again or recommend, entire experience/stay was one of the best we've had.

We had an amazing time

Date of Stay:

The house was beautiful, as was waking up to a gorgeous lake right outside your window. Such a peaceful place to celebrate turning 40 with a few friends. We had an amazing time.

boats, quiet, comforts, & ****kitchen

Date of Stay:

Great place for a gathering. Stuff to see and do in every direction and a great space indoors and out for hanging with friends and family. The kitchen is extremely well provisioned (instant pot! sous vide! Salad spinner. Blender. Mixer, every size of baking dish, stewing pot and frying pan) There are nice dishes, glassware, and linens for setting a beautiful table for a big crowd (like if your group rents the adjacent cottage also and you all eat together). This lake has a very low speed limit, so it is quiet and no wake, great for easy boating with the boats provided. We’ve been here before for the great summer swimming and SUPs. The new hot tub is great.

Cozy and comfortable, with easy access to the lake

Date of Stay:

We loved our stay at Leland Lakehouse! The kitchen is very well stocked - both with basics for cooking (salt, pepper, spices, oil, vinegar), but also with all manner of implements (micro plane, cake/pie pans, etc). In addition, the house is cozy and comfortable, with easy access to the lake. We used he boats to go fishing and actually caught some rainbow trout! Would highly recommend staying at the Leland Lakehouse

Peaceful nature

Date of Stay:

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Leland Lake House. The cabin is comfortably appointed with a kitchen you can actually cook in. The fishing was excellent and the peaceful quite surround made for an excellent vacation from all of life’s stresses.

Great house and idyllic setting

Date of Stay:

We rented both the Leland House and adjoining Sunrise cottage. That made for a wonderful, peaceful and relaxing few days. The combined properties make the most dog-friendly vacation rental we have experienced. Great lawn area and completely fenced--even providing dog bowls and dog towels. We brought our own kayaks to explore the nearby Hood Canal. However, paddling every morning on the glass-like lake turned out to be a highlight. The owner and manager have thought of everything from playing cards and games to cozy bathrobes for the hot tub. The kitchen was very well stocked. The house was comfortable and well maintained.

We loved our stay here!

Date of Stay:

We loved our stay here! We hiked all day and got back to a wonderful home to hang out at. We will definitely be back. Would highly recommend this place for a little getaway :)

Beautiful property with lakefront views

Date of Stay:

This home is situated in a picture perfect setting by a lake. The property is really beautiful and our family loved using the kayaks, canoe and fishing boat on the lake. The waters were calm and it was wonderful to wake up every morning with a view of the lake. It was very peaceful there, and it was a treat to relax on the hammock, cozy up at night with the wood burning stove, or just enjoy gorgeous views from the porch. The home was very nice, the beds very comfortable, and enough space for kids and adults. The owner/manager was very attentive and checked in on us via email a couple different times to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Communication was always prompt and it was obvious they really cared about our time at the house and making it the best possible experience for our family. The house is about an hour drive to Hurricane Ridge and a short drive to the very cute town of Port Townsend. On our last day, we drove about an hour to Bremerton to catch the ferry to Seattle and walk through Pike Market. Would recommend this home to anyone looking for fun, peace, relaxation and beautiful views. Thanks for the accommodations!

Stellar Accommodation

Date of Stay:

If there was a detail the hosts didn’t think of we probably didn’t need it. Beautifully furnished and meticulously maintained, we could not have had a better family vacation rental. We wanted some downtime at the lake, and enjoyed kayaking and canoeing with the gear provided. A completely unexpected pleasure was a bald eagle sighting! The first afternoon at the end of the day while relaxing on the back deck a bald eagle flew by not 50 feet away. Breath taking. We also wanted to do a few day hikes and the location was perfect for this. We greatly appreciated the maps and brochures provided which made it so much easier to plan. Absolutely loved our stay at Leland Lake House!

Our stay was wonderful

Date of Stay:

My wife and I visited with our 4 year old daughter, and our stay was wonderful. Between the hot tub, the fire pit, the boats and fishing, nearby hikes, and other fun ways to pass the time, we managed to have a relaxing long weekend without ever boring our daughter (who didn't want to leave :-)). The hospitality was great, the house was great. I highly recommend it.

Leland Lake House is lovely and relaxing

Date of Stay:

Lovely, comfortable and quiet retreat on Leland Lake. Gracious hosts, perfect spot to relax and recreate with family and friends. Canoe, cook, read, play games - unplug and enjoy.

We stayed there with our family and absolutely loved it!

Date of Stay:

We stayed there with our family and absolutely loved it! The property was beautiful, the lake was gorgeous, and the house neat, tidy, and well up kept. Would definitely recommend!

This property was all we hoped for and more!

Date of Stay:

We had a fabulous family vacation with our adult children and extended family. There was something for everyone: canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddle board, swimming, hot tubbing, hiking, and more. We relaxed, we played, we lazed in a hammock. The beds were comfortable, the place was clean, I don't know what more a person could ask for. I want to live there!

Everything you could need ; right on the lake

Date of Stay:

This property is exceptionally well-appointment and super clean. We had everything we need for fun times on the lake (canoe, kayak, paddle board) and many spots for simply watching the lake go by. We were lucky to be there during blueberry season and got to pick fresh berries. The house itself has a large, well stocked kitchen and the bedrooms were very cozy with comfortable beds. We did a couple nice day hikes using the house as a base. It is about 30-40 min from the main town (Port Townsend) so stock up on food before you arrive.

Lovely house in a beautiful spot

Date of Stay:

This place is amazing! The lake is beautiful and great for swimming, fishing and boating. The canoe and kayaks are great fun. I've never seen a better furnished vacation rental, and the owners seem to have thought of everything. The location is perfect, close to Port Townsend, the Hood Canal and lots of waterfalls and hiking trails. I wholeheartedly recommend this property!

Date of Stay:

Leland Lakehouse was a tranquil escape with everything needed for a relazing getaway. Between kayaks, canoe, the private dock for fishing and the books and games inside the house was an independent oasis. Throw in the close by hiking trails and the proximity of all the Olympic National Park excursions and our five day stay was spectacular.

Lovely Lake House

Date of Stay:

This was my second stay in the big main house. Swimming, paddling and bird watching filled the weekend. The housing was thoughtfully appointed and very well maintained. I plan to make this a yearly destination.

Date of Stay:

Well-provisioned house (bathroom, bedrooms, kitchen, outdoor hot-tub + shower, large fenced lawn...) in a beautiful lake-front location.

Outstandingly beautiful place

Date of Stay:

This is an outstandingly beautiful place. The house, the lake, and all that is provided can't be beat. We had relaxing, romantic time, just the two of us, fun playful time with family, and good sharing with old friends. It serves every purpose. We loved swimming, boating, and just looking at this beautiful lake. We will be back with pleasure!

Can not recommend highly enough!

Date of Stay:

Incredible stay! We were planning our next visit before we left. Open, spacious concept, with enough privacy for multiple families or couples. We had 2 couples and 2 others and it worked perfectly for us. Kitchen was well equipped and we cooked meals both in the kitchen and on the grill. But the reason you want to come back is the outdoor space! Fire-pit, hot tub, lake, kayaks, badminton and volleyball court...all amazing. We felt off the grid away from everything, but still had to convenience of internet and television. Standard ammenities were plentiful, and there were plenty of above the normal available as well (Miranda was quick to respond all the time and even stopped by to get the badminton set from storage.) Can not recommend highly enough!

Book this place!!!!!!

Date of Stay:

Book this place!!!!!! It is truly a magical place. Our kids, ages 9, 7 and 6 loved every second of being here as did my husband and I. The house is immaculate. Clean, cozy, top of the line all around down to the toaster. The fire pit, jacuzzi with a lake view, board games, hammock, private dock, canoe and kayaks made for plenty of activities. We watched bald eagles soar above and fish jump out of the lake. Make sure you bring a fishing pole! If you don’t have one, visit the super Walmart in Poulsbo on your way into town. They have everything you need there. The hosts were super responsive and helpful. We love the Leland Lake House!!!!!

Great house in a fantastic setting

Date of Stay:

Great house in a fantastic setting.

Beautiful Views and Feels Like Home

Date of Stay:

We absolutely loved it here! Very peaceful environment, great views and I felt like I was right at home (except a much more beautiful, secluded home). The availability of all the amenities at the property was exceptional, the cabinets were stocked with everything we could think of, the bathrooms were lovely, having access to laundry was great and the bedrooms were spacious. The best part for me was the "office" that was upstairs, where I could hook my laptop to the monitor to do some work (I'm work traveling at the moment!). I will definitely stay here again if I'm in the area.

5 stars all around

Date of Stay:

I had the opportunity to stay at this location and would easily do it again. They had everything imaginable. I was able to explore the Olympic peninsula and return to this lovely location to decompress for the evening. 5 stars all around and would highly recommend to anyone.

Slice of Heaven

Date of Stay:

This was our second visit to the Leland Lake House. We were loathe to leave the cozy house, soothing surroundings and fun times on the lake fishing and kayaking. Our dogs had a great time and we were able to relax with them in the fenced property. This is truly a little bit f heaven. Thank you Lisa and Miranda for making our stay perfect.

Beautiful escape

Date of Stay:

We loved staying at the Leland house! It was a beautiful escape and we hope to come back some day!

We will be back and highly recommend it for families who want to get away but don’t want to drive far!

Lake Front with Eagle!

Date of Stay:

This is an amazing place. No matter the weather, the peaceful lake and well equipped kitchen make for a relaxing vacation. Beds are so comfortable. I could spend all day watching the lake - fish jumping, eagles fishing, or using the opportunities for recreation (swimming, boating, etc.) You will love staying here.

Perfect, and particularly so for a group!

Date of Stay:

Lisa's place on the lake was perfect, and particularly so for a group! There were 8 of us and we felt the house was totally ready for us. The view was beautiful, the kitchen was very well stocked, and Lisa and Miranda were super communicative.

Lovely retreat

Date of Stay:

The lake house is a great place to rest and relax with friends. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely sleeping arrangements. Quick trip to Port Townsend. Best of all a great place to paddle and a gateway to extraordinary hikes.

Beautiful location, quiet lake with plenty to see nearby.

Date of Stay:

Our family visited the lake house over spring break and it was the perfect place to relax and still see some neighboring towns. We were able to visit Port Townsend, Sequim, Whidbey Island and Bainbridge Island. All are less than an hour away. In the evenings we enjoyed the beautiful view of the lake from the hot tub. Our dog was in heaven with the huge fenced yard to explore. We will definitely be back!

Amazing stay

This house is AMAZING. Waking up to the stunning lake view is what dreams are made of. We loved the house, the canoe and row boat, the fire pit, the hammok, the deck. We will definitely be booking a stay here again.

Date of Stay:

My friends and I had a wonderful stay at the Leland Lake House. It was nice to be secluded from other people and get to enjoy our time together before our friends deployment. We’ll definitely have to go again when he gets back! Amazing.

Quiet, dog-friendly, great views of the lake

Date of Stay:

We had such a relaxing weekend here! It was comfortable and had a large yard perfect for dogs to run around in. We really enjoyed the hot tub while looking out at the lake. The spiral staircase was difficult for the dogs to use but there was plenty of space downstairs for us.

Great family vacation

Date of Stay:

Fun, relaxing and comfortable. Every detail arranged to be sure we could enjoy our stay, from stargazing, fun floats and fishing on the lake to creating a beautiful wild berry pie to share (amazingly well-appointed kitchen!). We always have a wonderful time at the Leland Lake House.

We had a blast!

Date of Stay:

We enjoyed the stay so much even though outside was below freeze and snowing we enjoyed the fireplace (there were ton of firewood outside!) and beautiful view from the living room. My friend's kids enjoyed fishing at the lake and caught a few fat trout while we (moms) just stayed inside the warm house with a glass of wine. We also enjoyed the hot tub while we star gazing at night too. Kitchen had everything we could ask for and had enough plates and glasses for 10 of us. And a view from 2nd floor with a big window was great too. We'd love to stay at this house again... in the summer next time!

Would come back again!

Date of Stay:

We really enjoyed our stay. The landscape is beautiful and the house is peaceful. Would come back again!

This place is INCREDIBLE!

Date of Stay:

This place is INCREDIBLE! Some girlfriends and I had a relaxing weekend away from the city at the Leland Lake house and couldn't have asked for a more perfect home. The open layout of the home allowed us to spread out while all feeling like we were together--with private bedrooms for the ones who wanted to sleep a little earlier :) Great size kitchen, comfy beds and fun docks to lounge on. We will definitely be back!

Possibly paradise

Possibly paradise. The lake is stunning and visible through many windows. Secluded but civilized. Kitchen beautifully outfitted for a big family. This house is on the water and there is a creek behind it so you hear running water outside - lovely. Very dark at night and quiet. The spiral staircase is serious business- steep and narrow. Can't wait to stay in this house some sunny weekend in the future.

Lovely relaxing weekend

We had such a lovely relaxing weekend on the lake. The house has all the comforts of home and more. The kids & dog enjoyed the freedom to run around and play at the lake, with use of the canoe an added bonus

Loved staying at the Leland Lake House. I planned a surprise bday weekend for my partner and it was perfect. The house had plenty of space for multiple guests, it was clean, and there was a big yard for our dog to run around in. We cooked all our meals in the well stocked kitchen and appreciated how well the kitchen was organized. The hot tub was also great and easy to use. It was also super easy to communicate with Lisa and Miranda. We even talked about coming back when it isn't as cold outside! I would definitely recommend staying at this great escape!

Great space and great location!

Our stay at the Leland Lake house was amazing!

Our stay at the Leland Lake house was amazing! Thank you Lisa/Miranda for being excellent hosts. The kitchen was very well equipped for baking and cooking. There was plenty of firewood to keep us warm and we also got a chance to take the canoe out and go fishing (we brought our own rods and bait). We hope to make it back to Leland Lake soon!

We all had so much fun!

Grandparents, and young family with 2 kids and visiting cousins and aunts during the day all had a great time! The cabin was well equipped for cooking and had kayaks, a canoe, row boat and a hot tub. I hope the kids didn't fish all the sunny's out of the lake. It is close to lots of nature hikes, Pt. Townsend and Hurricane Ridge.
